Here the islanders are in no hurry, life is relaxed in this little magical town at just 7 kms long with splendid typical beaches of the Mexican Caribbean.
Walking through its streets
You'll love walking through the crowded streets full of shops exhibiting all kinds of souvenirs: hats, shirts, picture frames, keychains, sarongs and more. You can't resist colorful dresses and clothing common of Isla Mujeres. Nor could you miss the restaurants with their irresistible aromas providing an open invitation to enter and enjoy their dishes. And of course you can't skip out on trying the traditional Italian ice cream, the perfect compliment to a hot day when the sun is at its peak.
Playa Norte
Being surrounded by only the waters of the Caribbean, Isla Mujeres has beaches everywhere; But the favorite and recently named the second most beautiful beach in Mexico is Playa Norte. The tide is so low that it looks like a gigantic pool of clear water, ideal if you're traveling with small children. At the edge of the beach you will find hotels, several small restaurants, and beach clubs where chairs and umbrellas can be rented.
Punta Sur
Getting to Punta Sur can be the most fun with the spectacular view offered on the way there; It's best to rent a golf cart so you can truly enjoy the views. Punta Sur is the first place in all of Mexico where the sun's rays fall, can you imagine? In addition, its reef is special for being a site dedicated to the Goddess Ixchel, considered the goddess of fertility. In this space you will find outdoor sculptures as well as a craft shop.
Diving and Snorkeling
Without a doubt, you can't leave this magical town without taking the snorkeling tour by boat. You wont have to look hard once leaving the ferry because you will find many people selling these tours that will also include a visit to the famous lighthouse, where there are a variety of fish reefs surrounding it. Now, if you're adventurous and want to dive, some diving tours will include the cave of the sleeping sharks.
