It’s been a year full of obstacles. The aftermath of the swine flu seriously impacted Mexico, affecting many families and businesses throughout the country, resulting in a future forecast that was not so bright for us all.  Hurricane Ida also contributed to concerns for the people of the region but caused no damage after all (thank God)!  Fortunately, at the end of the year, things have begun to take a positive turn.

Several significant, international events took place in Cancun and the Riviera Maya this year:  Sarah Brightman, the British soprano delighted the audience with her performance at Chichen Itza; the Cancun Riviera Maya International Film Festival and the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival were a complete success too. The most recent event, the Celebrity Golf Invitational Cancun, brought international athletes and celebrities to our paradise to promote the destination and to raise funds for various charities.

On another high note, the search engines (Google, Yahoo) and renowned travel magazines (Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler) included Cancun and the Riviera Maya on their lists of the top destinations for travelers from Mexico and around the globe.  In addition, city officials finally, and with great success, began the beach recovery program, which is scheduled for completion soon.

At Yucatan Holidays, we wish you a Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas – filled with the love of family and friends – and with the hope that your holiday wishes come true!  Enjoy that special dinner with the people you cherish and of course, the gifts Santa Claus brings that you so deserve.
